Meyer Z-52 Zoysiagrass
Meyer Z-52 Zoysiagrass, selected by the USDA as "superior," is the most popular of the Zoysiagrasses in the Midwest, East and South. It is a dense turf with stiff, vertical leafblades which becomes a deep, rich green in the Spring and Summer of each year and goes dormant in the late Fall and Winter of each year turning a golden "straw" color. It is a very tough durable plant that combines beautiful texture and environmental benefits. Uses include golf course fairways, homes and commercial
lawns.
Meyer Z-52 Zoysiagrass is slow-growing and weed-free, so it needs less maintenance than other grasses(fewer mowings, less fertilizer, less water, fewer herbicides - less worry!). It is highly wear tolerant and can withstand wear in parks and on athletic fields. It can stand winter temperatures well below zero and well above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Its leafblades "curl" to protect itself from being too dry during drought conditions. Meyer Z-52 Zoysiagrass actually tells you when it needs water!
Meyer Z-52 Zoysiagrass sprouts seedheads in the early Spring briefly giving the grass a purplish cast. Simply mow away and the seedheads won't come back until next year at Springtime. So don't mistake those purplish sprouts in the Spring for weeds - they mean your Meyer Z-52 Zoysiagrass is healthy!
Meyer Z-52 Zoysiagrass grows by the spreading of its root system both above and beneath the surface of the ground. Therefore your Meyer Z-52 Zoysiagrass may be growing even though you can't see it on the surface.

It is ShadeKing® Zoysiagrass, and, you guessed it, it is for lawns that have mature trees and plants shading the lawn area and preventing a healthy stand of turfgrass. Homeowners and landscapers are calling Winrock to tell us that their new ShadeKing® Zoysiagrass is growing where nothing grew before and where only roots were showing. One landscape contractor said "ShadeKing® Zoysiagrass is not only growing under mature oak and maple trees, it looks like that grass is trying to climb the trees!"
